MUSIC PROJECT

1) What period does the Middle Ages cover?

The Middle Ages (or medieval period) lasted from the 5th to the 15th century. It began with the fall of the Western Roman Empire and merged into the Renaissance and the Age of Discovery.


2) What general characteristics does it have (according to the teacher’s comments)?

They compose some music in churches and they usually compose based in the medieval music, because in these century was very famous and all people was religous.


3) What is the main difference between “troubadours” and “minstrels”?

A troubadours is a french medieval lyric poet composing and singing  in the 11th to 13th centuries, especially on the theme of courtly love.
A minstrels is a medieval singer or musician, especially one who sang or recited lyric or heroic poetry to a musical accompaniment for the nobility.


4) What do their different heights have in common with the music evolution of those centuries?

The romanic church have little arcs and have mainus high than the Gothic cathedral, it has a high roof and high arcs.


5) What do you feel looking at these pictures (taken from the 19th century but directly linked to the Middle Ages)? In your own opinion, what kind of music could accompany these images?
It transmits me sadness and loneliness


6) Why does Heavy Metal music love this aesthetic?

Because the aesthetics of the image goes a lot with that rhythm and they want to take you to the stage of the song .
