AGATHA CHRISTIE

 
Agatha Christie

-Agatha Christie was born on September 15, 1890 on Torquay, Devon, in the southwest part of England. She was born in a high class family and she was educated at home by her mother. As a child, Christie enjoyed fantasy play and creating characters, and, when she was 16, she moved to Paris for a time to study vocals and piano.

-In 1914 she published her first book, The Mysterious Affair at Styles

-She wrote 66 detective novels and 14 story collections. She also wrote the oldest work in the world, The Mousetrap

-She served in a hospital during World War I as a volunteer and wrote "The Mysterious Affair at Styles", that was set in World War I. Later Christie worked in a pharmacy during World War II where she learned many things that appear in her novels. After the war, her books continued to grow in international popularity.

-She is the best selling novelist of all time. She has also been the most translated individual author.

-Throughout its history it has received numerous awards and most of its books have been adapted for television, radio, comics etc.

-After a successful career and a very happy life, Agatha died on January 12, 1976.

- Carriage: type of transport.
- Pray: religious act for God.
- Stain: a dirty mark in a place that is difficult to clear.
-Estate: large area of land in the countryside.
-"Stars and Stripes": name of the flag of USA
-Housekeeper: person employed to organise a house.
-Pray: ask a god for help.
-Still: quiet, silent.

IRLAND

Irish Beef Stew:
This particular stew has all of the classic trimmings of a good Irish stew . It’s  made with beef, garlic, stock, Irish Guinness beer, red wine, potatoes, carrots, and onions. An excellent, hearty stew. This recipe is usually taken on St. Patrick's Day.

Creamy Seafood Chowder: 
Seafood Chowder is a delicious, rich creamy soup that is very easy to cook.  It’s made of tender shrimp, fish and scallops are combined with white wine and veggies.

Salmon:
It is a steak of steamed salmon with garnish and a specific sauce, also accompanied by mashed potatoes and lemon.

Rhubarb crumble:
Rhubarb is an edible reddish stalk made in syrup.  It is made with apple and served with vanilla ice cream.  The top crust is made with flour, the famous Irish butter, sugar and cinnamon.

Whiskey chicken and leek pie:
This stew accompanied with puff pastry has Irish whiskey chicken, potatoes and vegetables.  They also serve it with garnish.


DRINKS 

Irish Coffee:

Irish coffee is characterized by its bitterness, caramelized sugar and burning whiskey that combine with a layer of whipped cream on top.


Irish Whisky sour:


This is also one of the most popular drinks in Ireland and worldwide.  It is a whiskey that is made from barley, rye, wheat and oats.



Irish Punch:


Irish punch is recognized worldwide. It is made with Irish whiskey, cinnamon, lemon and orange juice, duchess lemonade, pear and lemon

Geography 
Australia is in Oceania.It´s a country in the Southern Hemisphere, between the Indian Ocean and the south Pacific Ocean. It is the sixth largest country in the world .Its capital is Canberra there are a 23 millions of people in 2018. The official language is English and this is its flag. There are six states in Australia. New South Wales is the oldest and most populous state in Australia. Its capital is Sydney, this is the largest city in the country and is famous for its nature and food. And then they are Northern Territory,Victoria, Queensland it´s important because it have the world famous Great Barrier Reef, later there are South Australia,,Western Australia and Tasmania it´s an island and is the smallest state in Australia. The most important rivers are Murray, Darling and Flinders ; And the most important mountains are Townsend,Twynam, Rams Head

TRIBUS
Aboriginal Australians are the first inhabitants of Australia.The music is part of their culture and the most instrument of the Australian tribes is didgeridoo
The main tribes are:
Arunta
It is located in north-central Australia. The society of this Australian people is polygamous, so they accept marriage to more than one person.The clothing is made with animal skins and decorates your body with jewels.
Anangu
It is located in the western deserts of Central Australia.
For this people, the Uluru rock formation is a sacred place, as it was the area where two important battles were fought recounted in its mythology.

OLYMPIC GAMES OF SOUTH AFRICA 2010

The 2010 FIFA World Cup South Africa was the 19th edition of the Football World Cup. The competition was celebrated in South Africa, between 11 June and 11 July of that year, being the first time the tournament was celebrated in Africa and the fifth time in the southern hemisphere.

204 associations participated in the qualification process, of which they chose 31 to play in South Africa. Surpassing the record of 197 participants in the 2006 World Cup. 

The championship was composed of two phases: in the first,were formed eight groups of four teams, advancing to the next round the two best of each group. The sixteen qualifiers met in elimination matches,until they reached the teams that played the final at the Soccer City Stadium in Johannesburg.In the final they played Spain against the Netherlands, won Spain.


The Somali singer K'naan, composer of the song, sings a duo with David Bisbal. The lyrics of the song are in Spanish and English. It are inspired by African customs and refer to feelings as love and optimism between countries through football. K'naan lived for many years in Africa, Somalia, where he met hunger and war, and then he lived in the United States, Canada.
He said that when he was 11 years old and played football in the street with three friends ,some boys fired on the streets and houses. He survived but his three friends didn´t. This is a common experience for many African societies and inspired K'Naan some of the verses of the song.
